Ideas worth spreadingx
What started in 2011 with a few students and a big idea, TEDxFoggyBottom has quickly become one of the largest student-run TEDx events in the United States. Each year, TEDxFoggyBottom is brought to life by over 40 undergraduates at The George Washington University in Washington DC and aims to bring together some of the world’s incredible innovators, thinkers and doers to inspire and collaborate with the Foggy Bottom community.
On April 23rd, 2016, over 1,500 people from around the Foggy Bottom and DMV community will gather for a full-day experience of live presenters and performers, interactive experiences, and collective collaboration. With this year’s theme of “Think Next,” we ask our audience to look into the future and imagine whats coming in art, advocacy, technology, and more. Speakers will share forward thinking ideas across a variety of fields while crafting conversation among our audience.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxFoggyBottom, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
